Internet in Baan Thai Village 2 |
We can now connect to Internet via fixed phone lines
TOT and TT&T are the companies installing phone lines in the BTV2 area. Via a fixed phone line you can have a good ADSL connection to Internet, 1-2 mbit/sec for us/private persons for 590 or 1,000 baht/month. You must also pay 100 baht/month. for the phone line subscription and 7 % VAT. For installation and router/access point you pay in total 6.000 - 8.000 baht. The ADSL subscription can be temporarily closed when you are not in BTV2. The phone subscription must be paid continually.
Everyone who wants a phone line must individually apply for it at TOT's or
TT&T's offices
in Hua Hin. You find TOT's office at the main street, opposite the police
station, and TT&T's office opposite Market Village, see
map (in squares C6, "Telephone
Organization", and C8, "TT&T", respectively).
The phone bills can be paid via
autogiro.
If you want to check the speed of your Internet connection, you can go to this test site in Thailand: http://speedtest.adslthailand.com/ .
One alternative to your own fixed line, and to Internet café in the city, is to use your own laptop with wireless network installed. Then you can buy an 1-month subscription to surf on Sunshine´s wireless network in the city and some suburbs for 500 baht. But the network does not cover BTV2, so you must find your own cosy corner in the city... The subscription is bought at Sunshine Internet café, opposite Eurobakery, at Tanawit Hotel on Amnuaysin Rd (behind Hua Hin Shopping Mall).
